Thanks for taking a minute to check out our blog. I thought I’d take a few minutes at first to give you a better idea of who we are and what it’s like around here.
I have to start with the fact that Cedarbreaks Kennels was started with Bud and our oldest son EJ. They bred Laborador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers for obedience and hunting long before I came around. I’ll try to get my hands on some pictures of the two of them back then if I can get away with it.
I had Shelties beginning in 1990. Harper and Cuervo were my pets, and I adored them. Life and circumstances kept me from having more for quite a while, but when Bud and I met he told me he’d get me one. I had never done any dog sports or breeding before Bud, but he encouraged me to jump in with Scout, our first Sheltie. Another day I’ll share the story of how Scout wouldn’t really show for me, but as soon as he went into the ring with her she got a RWB. She later became my first therapy dog at Cincinnati Children’s, and now she’s enjoying her retirement.
These days we live in the country outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, with two of our adult children who have disabilities. Bud is retired and runs the home – including the chickens, bees, and the barn. I work at Cincinnati Children’s and if I’ve had a stressful day you’ll find me grooming a dog.
We’re lucky enough to have most of our adult kids live close, and Bud knows everyone he’s ever met. He’s the extrovert, I’m the introvert.
Life here is crazy, but it works. Thanks for stopping by!
